In September 2008 the government introduced a new curriculum called the early years foundation stage (EYFS). Through the EYFS stress is placed upon understanding that each child and their family are unique with different needs and concerns.
The EYFS is a "play based" curriculum. Play is a vital component of children's lives. Through play children learn about themselves, their environment, people and the world around them. Play also helps children to solve problems and get along with others. Children enhance their creativity and leadership skills and healthy personality.
The child’s key person at Hideaway Day Nursery will enhance, extend and plan play experiences for each individual child which is then recorded under the six areas of Learning & Development which are:
- Personal, Social & Emotional Development
- Communication, Language & Literacy
- Problem Solving, Reasoning & Numeracy
- Knowledge & Understanding of the World
- Physical Development
- Creative Development
Learning and development is promoted by encouraging further exploration which in turn will involve learning new concepts and testing a variety of new ideas.

All children are appointed a key person who will make sure, within the day to day demands of the nursery, that your child feels special, individual and cherished.
The key person system also ensures that each parent has the opportunity to build a personal relationship with that staff member giving you peace of mind and the chance to liaise with someone who is fully committed and familiar with your child.
